When I was younger and living in Germany, my parents bought me a Speak & Spell for my birthday. The only problem was that the spellings were non-US, so I learned how to spell with the extra "U" (like neighbour) and "re" instead of "er" (like theatre). Completely messed me up when I got back to the States.
