Tangentally

I saw "Shrek 2" this weekend, and while it was extremely good and I am in love with Puss in Boots, it stuck a song in my head. Damn you, Shrek.
I have "I Need A Hero" earwormed and must find a way to purge it. Perhaps if I list my personal heroes list.....

In no particular order (after the first two):
1. The GM1
2. United States military
3. Tyler Durden
4. Chuck Yeager
5. Ellen Ripley
6. Patton
7. Al Swearengen
8. William Gibson
9. Miles Vorkosigan
10. Bobby Shaftoe
11. William the Bloody
12. Henry VIII
13. Leonardo da Vinci

Who are your heroes?

I have the Shrek 2 soundtrack and listen to those 2 versions of I Need A Hero over and over again.

I had the same thing happen to me with that song. Darn Shrek!

My own personal heroes?
My tall dutchman, my sister, Vlad the Impaler (he was just neat!), and, urm.. hmmm.. actually, I've never really thought of it, heh.

I hated that song the first time it came out. Now I have to listen as my 9 year old blasts it on the new stereo we got him for his birthday.

What's in Shrek 3 to taunt me? "Total Eclipse Of The Heart"?

I vote for Lee Ann, because she has the power to throw me off the roll at any time.

I've always had a deep and abiding admiration for women who've dressed as slutty mimes for Halloween.

SuperMan.. er the actor Christopher Reeves. Er, both. Superman shows us real values and mores that our society is slowly letting go of.

Oooh, damn fine list there.

And where is Pixy on that list?

Posted by: Stephen Macklin at July 12, 2004 05:42 PM

Pixy is cross-linked with my fantasy/hottie list. :)
He might have been included here, but he's such a tease.....

Posted by: LeeAnn at July 12, 2004 06:07 PM

That's a great list. I especially like 3, 5 and 9.

Let's see, my hero list would include my husband, Spiderman, and Miles Vorkosigan. And Nellie Bly and my grandmother. Well, both my grandmothers, actually, both the one who was a doctor and the one who wasn't but who was apparently an extremely competent surgical assistant as a teenager.

Isaac Asimov
Richard P Feynmann
Richard III
The Australian, US and British militaries
P. J. O'Rourke
Winston Churchill
Queen Elizabeths I and II
Cordelia Vorkosigan
Carl Sagan
Terry Pratchett

Err, hang on, make that Richard I. Dunno about Richard III.

You ought to check out Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy given your list. Ask Dawn, I know my shit. ;) Excellent list, by the way.
