Olden Days

I found this article on the "history" of blogging kind of interesting.

I particularly like the way he takes the opportunity to invoke the classic "This is the last entry for this blog" exit....
"Just as I was taking on a new endeavor then, I am now moving on to other new challenges, so this will be the last Blogspotting entry,..."

This made me wonder: is blogging just a sort of jumping off point for everyone, an entry-level endeavor? Or is just good old blogging satisfaction enough?
Sound off, people. The Cheese wants to know.

Actually, blogging was a fallback. I have been working on a novel, but got stuck. Very stuck. So stuck I abandoned it and started another, then got stuck again. My stepfather, a web freak and blog addict, suggested I start a blog, although he proposed a techie blog. I made it a personal blog and never looked back! Maybe someday the novel will be done, but until then, there is always the blog!

It's certainly not a "jumping off" point for me...I have no blooming idea why I started a blog...I think I just like telling bad jokes, pointing out crazy people in the news, and making people laugh..it still amazes me that people comment on my crazy posts..

A jumping off point for what? Blogging is currently what IRC used to be for me. A way to spend lots of time at the computer :)

Just an excuse for me to write and piss people off. I work hard at it sometimes, and forget about altogether other times.

For the most part, I like to think of it as a way to get the creative juices flowing. BUT, since the explosion of my last hard drive, I've lost interest in writing THE GREAT AMERICAN NOVEL. At least for the next week.

This phlegm's pretty tasty and I plan on savoring it.
